I think that guy's behavior was Overly Sensitive to kill a chess game over a Flag symbolizing a country, and then shoot messages about it, and the war - which is a serious and major real world event going on, being different than Chess. I'm not against Flags, or online chat. After all, Flags and using online chat are 1st Amd, free speech tools, symbols, imo that represents a country in the world, which people geographically reside in, have citizenship, and many will fight for its right to exist. I think Flags add-value to the game experience, to give a sense that you're playing here, or there, it's like taking a dream vacation there, while you're safely at the comfort of your home - giving a flavor of diversity too, but if they actually don't add-value to the experience (perhaps that should be voted on?). Then, I can see, based on privacy laws, why Google Maps would delete personal information publicly, in their map tool, while using it to find where people are, and where people go. If the Flag information is too personal, and can be abused because of such behavior, then maybe it shouldn't be displayed publically, and be more like Google Maps.
Of course, all conversation is personal. But, how personal does it need to be, before people just aren't having fun with it, because people feel abused, or made themself vulnerable? Ideally, there shouldn't have to be a Movie Threatre Rating on Free Speech, where some people will avoid seeing the show, if it has a certain rating; except that might be the realistic way going about it - so that people can positively handle each other, in a civilized way. Not everyone can handle a Flag, apparently. Not everyone can handle watching something, Rated R either. Also, comments and their "Ratings" can be easily edited, whereas, a Flag can not - so keep that in mind too.
