Lichess shield

We have a shield for all different variants. Why not make a shield tournament for teams

Kind of but you know lichess teams? You can join a team and play in team battles etc? My idea is that there should be a shield for that and the team that wins everymonth will get an trophy

I think that currently how the team system works is impossible without changes
Additionally, there is no medal location for teams

There's the league and the recurring Mega battles. There's absolutely no need to award a "shield" to some team, and the whole idea doesn't make any sense.

Yes, interesting thought. I was going to mention that I run a weekly zh team battle where the winning team gets a custom made AI digital art trophy (albeit with the understanding that they may not have anywhere to put it other than as an imgur picture on the team page.) But then I realised that you know this because your team plays in it already *facepalm* ...

I suppose the point was that even given these limitations, the team leaders are always happy to get their trophy, I mean, who doesn't love shiny stuff, right? but I'm not sure the extra coding would be worth it because of these limitations about displaying it on the team page.

Yeah, coding and stuff would be hard. It was just a thought the winning teams would get more members like the shield winner gets followers. Sorry I wasn’t able to join the last one since I was playing in racing kings shield. :)

Those are mainly for blitz, not al variant though. That’s my thoughts.

the normal variant shield only attracts a few hundred players. How would this even work out for teams?

Well, I like the idea.

it can work in tournaments like the Bundesliga: a temporary trophy for the team that wins 1st place in Bundesliga 1, so a trophy that stays until the next Bundesliga (around 3-4 days).

It's doable, not complicated and it will continue to attract people since the Lichess Bundesliga is very popular. and as the link with sport is relatively well present in our Lichess Bundesliga (itself inspired by the chess Bundesliga IRL) such a trophy would have a positive effect
