Leaving game before mate in one.

I’m a relative newbie to chess and so apologies if this question is trivial. Suppose I am about to material my opponent on the next move during a rated game, and my opponent decides to simply let the clock run down to zero rather than make a move. Obviously, this counts as a “win” for me, but I’m curious if I gain the same number of points in this case compared with an identical case where I’m playing a mature opponent who either resigns or allows me to checkmate. Thank you.
Yes, a win is a win and the points awarded are the same.

Hopefully people who do this (let time run out in hopeless positions) will eventually rack up enough warnings and be placed in a rocket and launched into space.
I always report them, and there's been talk of the rocket being assembled somewhere.
