game ended up in remis instead of time out

Why this game ended up in remis when my opponent went to time out?

> In the event of one player running out of time, that player will usually lose the game. However, the game is drawn if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player's king by any possible series of legal moves (FIDE handbook §6.9).
Of course it will be possible to win for white in this position. The pawns can be easily changed to queens for example.
It's about if you (black) could mate. Your opponent's time ran out and that would be a win for you normally. But because you have no material to mate your opponent, it's a draw (they "lost" on time, you have not enough material). It doesn't directly matter, if white can mate.
Ok, makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
It's good to question these things. The other site did this to me (draw for insufficient material) when I had ~15 seconds left and a queen, rook, etc, etc versus a lone king. Easy checkmate. I reported a bug and a mod responded like 'you ran out of time, idiot' without even looking at the game. Like they don't take you seriously unless you're over 2000, even if you're an experienced coder and you write a nice succinct bug report.
