"We had to time you out for a while"

Dear lichess,

Let me start by saying I really appreciate your website.

I just got a message saying I have been timed out for several minutes and that I can avoid this by (among others) playing every game I start.

The reason I don't play every game I (you) start is this: I give criteria for a game via the "Custom" option and all too often I get a game that does not meet these criteria (most notably the rating range). When this happens I abort the game. By the way, this only seems to happen in the Android app, not on the website.

Could you please fix this?

You can adjust the rating range of potential adversaries so that it is closer to your own.
Assuming you have the latest version of the software, and given the fact that other people have reported the same issue, sounds like there's a bug.

I don't think anyone at LiChess can do anything for you. Your opponents wanted to play a chess game and not see an abort message. How would you feel if every time you got a game in the rating range you chose your opponent refused to play?

Maybe you can try using a browser, and see if that is a good temporary fix for the problem.
Even when the system is bugged you're nowhere entitled to abort
