Cheats, cronyism and Frankenstein's Monster.

@Nadastar:
There is not perfect engine. Defects are found in the old versions of all the engines. Then updated versions come up where the mistakes are corrected and the engines play better. This process is going on for a very long time now and no defects have been found in the most recent version yet. So you call old engines "crippled" because they have been defeated and updated.
I think that the point is that nobody want or prefers to play an engine in general. This page is made for humans by humans. If you want to play an engine so urgently then Lichess should a) provide a section (beside playing vs machine) on all variants -if their is an huge demand or b) you people with special needs should go elsewhere. Yes, we run into engines occasionally but that doesn't meant that we welcome it nor like to play against because we got forcefully pair up to them.
PS> engines and playing engines isn't a law of nature here where we have to surrender to.
@Tangelo777:

I dont call old engines "crippled", I call those engines crippled (maybe "limited" would be a better word) that are not playing with full strength because otherwise it would make jsut no sense to play against them (at least not in a competitive way).

@c_O: I completely agree with you!

Best wishes

#125 WHY?

If you look to the right of the box where one fills in replies, there's a button that says "Unsubscribe" if you're fed up with the thread.

Personally, while many people have disagreed with my original ideas, I'm finding it invigorating to see so much discussion.
I wonder, if anyone can be bothered to sift through all of this, where the solution lies :D
I've not read al the pages, in fact only the first one.

Sure I'm not a cheater, and my elo demonstrate it, but if I have to send over the internet my credit card data and my identity card I'm sure out of this site. No way I'm going to do that.

I can understand that some people can be bothered with cheaters, but if so the best solution is to create a sistem like the one you said and made a sort of "separated league" for them.

But remember that this is a free site and those kind of sistem are adopted in payment site, because it takes a lot of work for the administrators.
What about a compromise from OP 's original hard to implement suggestion. What if players got the option to validate their account if they wanted to which enables a setting to play only other players who validated their account. Valve implemented a similar idea in csgo with Main account and main account competitive war searches.
Wesley is quality player and will be missed but he is just a player , one small cog in the lichess machine.
