suspiciousness index for cheating

I understand that lot of people worry about playing against cheaters and so the index of suspicion has been be quite high..

There is also a downside to it. It does damage the reputation of truly good players.. One of my friends with the ID "gay_chess" has a FIDE rating of >2200, and indeed plays good games. He was flagged as "This player uses computer assistance!" , his rating was set to 1500. I am pretty sure that he is not cheating, and I am also pretty sure that this is not the first time such a case may have occurred. It clearly discourages good players - FMs, GMs, or even non-titled good players to play on lichess. In fact, the opposite should be true.. better players should be encouraged to play here - the whole community will benefit from that.

While it is quite hard to determine the true cheaters from the truly good players, there must be a way for players to to appraised or warned that they are suspected of cheating, and give them an opportunity to clear it up before putting them to public shame!

[FM...] I think the "cheating-detection" is based in the probability using engines and, calculating factors like "vagueness, mistakes, etcetera". Anyways, would be a pleasure if some STAFF member explains us if the "computer-assisted" tag was fair, and if the methods are "highly-effective".
Thank you for your helpful topic, cafestream. I was able to prove that I was not cheating, so I'm not flagged as a cheater anymore.
I am glad it helped you gay_chess.. and also thank you lichess community for responding so quickly).

I hope that something can be done to prevent such occurrences in the future also.
Forget cheating - should be banned on username alone. And not because there is anything wrong with being gay. Just because it is clearly a troll attempt (which additionally makes me think he is a cheat).
It might also refer to a gay Hegelian. Either way, it shouldn't be banned.
ok.... I guess they will find out shortly what his name is. If it is not "Gay-Lussac" or similar, then its almost certainly a troll name.
@goldilocks : I sent a copy of my identity card so moderators know who I am. I proved that my FIDE rating is around 2280.
ok, gay_chess, I am sure they are on top of that and I have not looked at your games anyway (just noting disposable accounts (e.g. troll names) and cheating often happens simultaneously)

I have seen various fake credentials along the way - even a real GM who backed up (with ID, facebook, ICC) a friend of his who was cheating; the ultimate proof is usually the games themselves.

But if you are neither cheating nor trolling, welcome!!! :D
